Ohio Voting Suspension
Frequently Asked Questions
Original Release: 3/20/2020
There are many questions surrounding the suspension of voting in Ohio on March 17th 2020 .
Some of those questions are:
Q1:) What is the re-scheduled date for in-person voting?
A1:) This is a complex situation as there are actions in Court and in the Legislature that will provide the final determination as to the date for Ohio Primary voting to occur.
Q2:) Will there even be a rescheduled date for in-person voting or only Vote-by-Mail?
A2:) Likewise, the determinations by the Ohio Supreme Court and Legislature will provide an answer to this question.
Q3:) Can I apply now for an Absentee Ballot?
A3:) Yes! Absentee Ballot applications are still being accepted by the Boards of Election across Ohio.
Q4:) Can I change my vote if I have already submitted an Absentee Ballot?
A4:) Every Candidate and Issue appearing on a ballot is predetermined prior to an election. The ballots will not change nor will any votes already cast.
Requested Absentee Ballots will be sent out once the actual re-scheduled Ohio Primary Election date is finalized.
Applications to Vote by Mail are available at City Hall or can be requested from the Board of Elections via their website at: https://boe.cuyahogacounty.us/en-US/VoteByMail.aspx.
