The City of Lyndhurst, Ohio Police Department is seeking to fill a full-time communications officer position.
This position is responsible for all dispatching functions for the Lyndhurst Police and Fire Departments.
Applicants must have a strong sense of integrity and personal responsibility; have considerable computer operation skills to utilize various informational databases; demonstrate strong written and oral skills; interact and communicate with associates and the public courteously and effectively; perform work accurately and timely, without direct supervision; and be able to work scheduled 8 or 12 hour shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Duties include, but are not limited to: answer emergency/non-emergency police, fire and EMS calls for service; determine nature and location of emergencies and prioritize tasks in order to dispatch necessary personnel efficiently; enter accurate information into corresponding databases in a timely manner; monitor LEADS teletypes and communicate messages that are pertinent to department operations; monitor Municipal Center alarms and surveillance cameras; maintain various communication center equipment, including monitoring several police, fire, EMS, and service frequencies.
Prior experience in public safety dispatching or law enforcement strongly preferred, but not required. Current hourly rate: $24.69 - $26.69/hour.
