From the Service Department Yard Waste Program, Weekend Rubbish, and Document Shredding
Original Release: 2/15/2016
Yard Waste Program
In the spring of 2016 the Service Department will resume yard waste collection. Last year Lyndhurst residents placed over 1,100 tons of yard waste to the curb. This material was taken to a compost facility in Willoughby and made into organic soil supplements. This diversion from the landfill saved taxpayers approximately $44,000 in land fill fees.
Please remember that all organic waste including leaves, grass, hedge clippings and garden plants must be placed in paper yard waste bags (available at most retail outlets) or in designated yard waste cans.
"Yard Waste Only" stickers are available for pickup at the Service Department during regular business hours: Mon-Fri 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Place these stickers on your old garbage cans so we can easily identify your yard waste only cans.
Place all yard waste cans and bags at least 3 feet from rubbish and recycling carts on your tree lawn.
Please remember these yard waste cans and bags are for YARD WASTE ONLY - yard waste in plastic bags will not be accepted.
Please have all waste containers to the curb by 7:00 AM on the day of your pick up.
Weekend Rubbish
Our weekend rubbish program will resume at the service garage on April 2 and will run through mid-November. Hours of operation are 11:30am to 3:30pm every Saturday and Sunday. This program will also accept household hazardous waste and is available to Lyndhurst residents only, so please bring an ID for proof of residency.
Document Shredding
The City of Lyndhurst has scheduled another secure community shred day. Please be sure to bring proof of residency to the Lyndhurst City Hall parking lot on Saturday April 30, 2016 from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm.
