Proposed Resolution No. 2011-01: Review proposed Resolution 2011-01 regarding scoring promotional exams in the fire department. Correspondence: From Mayor Cicero dated April 26 and May 4, 2011 June 9, 2011: Civil Service Commission MINUTES: The Civil Service Commission of the City of Lyndhurst met in Regular Session on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Lyndhurst Municipal Center, 5301 Mayfield Road. Members Present: Commissioners: R. Schmidlin, Secretary; R D Patete, R A Sweeney Others Present: P T Murphy, Director of Law; C J White, Secretary; Chief Michael Carroll, Fire Department It was moved by Mr. Patete, seconded by Ms. Sweeney that the reading of the minutes of the Regular Meeting held April 14, 2011, copies of which were mailed to all members, be dispensed with and said minutes stand approved as circulated. The question was put to a voice vote and passed unanimously. Motion carried. Proposed Resolution No. 2011-01 Review proposed Resolution No. 2011-01, regarding scoring promotional exams in the fire department. Mr. Murphy explained that throughout the resolution, the words "final point scale" should be "final point score." Ms. Sweeney recommended that in Section 7, fourth paragraph, third and fourth lines, the word "percentage" should be deleted. She further recommended that paragraph three include the words "or education," to read "No credit for seniority "OR EDUCATION" shall be added to an examination grade . . ." and that paragraph three be moved to the end of Section 7 and above Section 2. In answer to Ms. Sweeney's question regarding the education of ranks, Chief Carroll explained the reasoning behind the extra credit for various degrees and specifics of education shown on the proposed resolution. It was moved by Mr. Schmidlin, seconded by Ms. Sweeney that the changes stated be incorporated into the final draft of Resolution No. 2011-01 to be reviewed for approval at the next regular meeting. The question was put to a voice vote and passed unanimously. Motion carried. It was moved by Mr. Schmidlin, seconded by Ms. Sweeney that the following candidates be certified for the position of Firefighter/Medic:
