Community Center Update
Melissa Weldon, Coordinator (440) 449-5011
Are you planning to celebrate a special event in 2010? If so, call us, and we will set up a time for you to tour our wonderful Community Center and to discuss your plans in more detail. Please keep in mind that the months of May and June are particularly busy.
Get Involved:
Do you have "a little" extra time and an interest in becoming more involved? Why not consider joining one of the many clubs and organizations calling the Community Center home. There is something for everybody; from the Lyndhurst Garden Club and the SELREC Seniors; a social club, to the VFW and Ladies Auxiliary. Those with an interest in politics may wish to check out the Lyndhurst Democratic and Republican Clubs, or those looking for something more service oriented may want to consider the Hillcrest Women's Club, the Kiwanis or Lyndhurst CERT (Community Emergency Response Team).
For group contact information, call the Community Center or refer to the City website for the link to the local organizations directory.
Stay Healthy:
The Cuyahoga County Board of Health holds an Immunization Clinic in the Community Center, on most Thursday. These clinics can provide you and your family with all the same vaccines available at your local Doctor's office, from newborns shots to tetanus and TB tests to flu and shingles vaccines. Nurses bring the vaccines with them when they come in on Thursdays and only bring what is required for their scheduled appointments; WALK-INS CANNOT BE ACCOMMODATED. To schedule an appointment call the Cuyahoga County Board of Health at (216) 201-2041.
The American Red Cross holds a BloodMobile in the Community Center approximately every other month; the next one is scheduled for Thursday February 4 from 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM. with other drives scheduled for Thursdays: April 1, June 3, August 5, October 6, and December 2, 2010. If you are at least 17 years old, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds you can be a blood donor and can continue to donate blood SAFELY every 56 days. Donors need to bring their Red Cross card, their driver's license or two pieces of identification.
For those who need blood, cancer and surgical patients, accident victims, etc …your gift is priceless - you can be someone's hero every 56 days!
