From The Service Department
With spring yard clean up just around the corner remember that all organic waste including, leaves, grass, hedge clippings and garden plants must be placed in paper yard waste bags and placed on the treelawn not closer than 3 feet from the rubbish and recycling carts. Yard waste bags are available at most retail outlets. Large branches over 4 feet long up to a maximum of 6 inches in diameter should be stacked neatly at least 3 feet from carts for chipping. Plastic bags and containers filled with yard waste will not be accepted. In an average year Lyndhurst residents place approximately 1000 tons of yard waste to the curb. In the past this material was taken to a sanitary landfill in Wayne County and buried at a cost of $37.00 per ton. All organic yard waste will be recycled and made into soil amendments. The new program saves tax dollars and is environmentally responsible. Please take note and follow these new procedures. Here is a link to our website for further information on refuse and recycling regulations.

It will be closed Easter Sunday, April 4 and Sunday July 4. This program will also accept household hazardous waste. This service is only available to Lyndhurst residents.
