What We Do:
- Educational Outreach
- Storm Water Services
- Watershed Management
Advocate and implement best management practices for conservation of land and aquatic resources in a developed environment through education, stewardship and technical assistance.
Over the years, the Cuyahoga SWCD has provided assistance to address many aspects of natural resource conservation. The Cuyahoga SWCD has focused on setting priorities and carrying out programs based on local conditions and needs. Cuyahoga SWCD is unique in providing services that focus on the soil-water connection!
As communities continue to look at development opportunities, the Cuyahoga SWCD is able to provide valuable technical assistance that helps cities stay in compliance with their mandated Clean Water Act permits, while also assisting the development community with a better understanding of best management practice applications for storm water pollution prevention.
Cuyahoga SWCD works collaboratively with a variety of conservation partners, including not for profit organizations, public and private sector organizations/businesses helping the SWCD implement an array of programs and projects aimed at getting conservation on the ground. Cuyahoga SWCD works daily with the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation District (NRCS). NRCS is our federal partner, which provides additional technical services and support. Federal cost-share funds provided aid cooperators in the county with pollution abatement projects. A current focus of NRCS funding is to support urban agriculture. Cost-share funds are available for seasonal high tunnels, which help extend the growing season.
