AVAILABILITY: We are available for use by our residents' for their own personal events, by businesses having their principal base of operation here in Lyndhurst and by those non-profit organizations with active memberships comprised of at least 50% residents.
LAYOUT: Our beautiful facility has six rooms available for use, including a banquet room with gated patio, and five smaller rooms, some of which can be combined to create a single larger space, allowing us to accommodate small, medium and larger events, possibly at the same time. All rentals include some refrigeration/freezer space, shared use of the ice machine, and a coffee pot.
KITCHEN: For events, with on-site caterers or serving staff or those wanting use of the kitchen appliances (ovens, griddle, stovetop, etc.) or prep space, our commercial kitchen is available on a rented basis, with priority going to the larger rooms first.
ALCOHOL: Alcoholic beverages may be permitted under the conditions established by City Ordinance.
WALK-THROUGHS: If you have not yet seen your Community Center, and would like a tour, we suggest you call the office (440) 449-5011 to set up an appointment. While walk-ins are always welcome, we do not, as a courtesy to those who have reserved space for their functions, show rooms that are being used. An appointment will help to insure that the space(s) you are most interested in, will be free for you to view, and that someone will be available to answer all your questions on pricing and availability or to take your application. Due to the volume of evening and weekend use, appointments to look at the facility are generally not available outside business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm.
ROOM-MATES: The Community Center is also home to the Lyndhurst Office of the Community Partnership on Aging, (440) 473-5138, and the Hillcrest Meals on Wheels Program, (440) 449-3551, that in 2007 distributed 21,000 hot and cold meals to the surrounding communities.
OLD ELECTRONICS: For those of you with spring cleaning in mind, the Community Center collects old electronics, cell phones, iPods, MP3 Players, digital cameras, etc., working or not, and we send them to a recycler who in turn gives us a donation for the American Cancer Society. If the donated phones can updated, the recycler will upgrade and donate them to shelters for Women. If the phones too out of date, they simply recycle. Regardless of whether items can be upgraded or are scraped, we receive a donation for the American Cancer Society for every item we send them. The amount of the donation varies from a quarter to several dollars, but every penny is one-step closer to a cure. This is an on-going, year round program.
BICYCLE HELMETS: Although stock levels can vary throughout the year, our "Using Your Head Bicycle Helmet Program" is another of our on-going, year round programs. Through our affiliation with the Injury Prevention Center at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, we are able to offer you and your family bicycle helmets, at our cost of $10.00 each. All the helmets we offer are by Bell Sports, Inc. and are tested to exceed the stringent bicycle helmet standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. For the safety of your child, we are unable to fit anyone under the age of two. Helmets are individually fit and therefore fitting are by appointment only.
