The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District is now accepting applications for the third class of the Master Recycler Program of Cuyahoga County.

The lecture and tour series for Cuyahoga County residents, business representatives, and college students offers participants an in-depth study of solid waste management including waste reduction, composting, reuse and recycling. The nine-week training course will begin Tuesday, August 18th 2015.

Students will receive instruction on the subject of recycling and waste management to enhance their knowledge of the field. Facility tours are also part of the curriculum. The program goal is to create advocates that help affect recycling habits at home, at work, and in the community.

Individuals interested in becoming a Master Recycler must apply, be interviewed, and accepted to the program. Applicants must be able to attend the nine-week series this fall, including four tours and five lectures, and complete a volunteering requirement to earn the title of Master Recycler of Cuyahoga County. Program participants have one year to complete the volunteer requirement.

Since the program's inception in 2013, twenty participants have completed all course terms and earned the title of Master Recycler.
