From the Service Department: Ash Tree Program Released: 5/14/2012 Print Close
Removal of infested trees is currently in process. Ash trees along with any tree the city removes will be cut flush to the ground. Twice each year we will grind stumps, typically in the spring and fall. We will then remove all debris and restore your treelawn with soil, seed and straw (to help facilitate growth we ask you to please water these restorations). We will replace trees as soon as possible depending on factors such as time of year, species availability and treelawn characteristics like overhead wires and private tree plantings. The service department planted approximately 200 trees in April. We will have a second planting scheduled this fall and again in spring of 2013.
Please Check Your Yard For The Presence Of Ash TreesResidents concerned about their privately owned ash trees can check for the following symptoms, since these symptoms are usually apparent before the bugs are spotted: Canopy/crown dieback, 1/8" D-shaped exit holes on trunk or branches, and irregular branching with suckers sprouting at the back of the trunk. At this time we advise all home owners to check their property for ash trees. These trees should be monitored closely for EAB. Information and a description of the Emerald Ash Borer can be found on our website at www.lyndhurst-oh.com\EAB. Residents should contact an arborist or tree company with questions or for confirmation of suspected EAB. |
