Project S.O.S. "Support our Soldiers" is an ongoing community effort in the city. Thanks to the generosity of many residents we have been able to collect many items and letters needed to create care packages to send to our soldiers. It is our hope that we can continue to provide much needed items and letters from home to send overseas to our soldiers fighting for our freedoms.

Project S.O.S. "Support our Soldiers" is a two-fold effort:
  1. Men and women in the military enjoy and look forward to mail and other reminders of home. Unfortunately, some members of our military do not get a lot or any mail. I am asking that you and your family take the time to write a letter.

Enclose your letter in an envelope (no need to address the envelope) and return to Lyndhurst City Hall. The greeting of the letter can just say "Hi" or "Dear Soldier."

The letter can be one of support, appreciation, artwork, or about your own life and plans. These letters will be collected and given to those who will ensure that a soldier in Iraq receives them.

  2.
  3. The next part of the program is to collect items in short supply for soldier's personal use. Below is a list of those items most needed.
These items can be dropped off at Lyndhurst City Hall as well.

Thank you for your help in supporting our soldiers. It is my hope to continue this outreach program throughout the year, until peace comes to our world.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Together all of us can work together to make a difference in the lives of those who have given so much for us.

Sincerely,
Joseph M. Cicero, Jr., Mayor
