By: Chief Gerald TelzrowThe cold and snow of the winter season are upon us, and with that the Fire Department would like to remind residents that it is important to keep fire hydrants clear of snow. Too often, we find fire hydrants buried under snow as a result of private snow plow contractors piling snow on residents’ tree lawns. Please remind your snow plow provider to keep the fire hydrants clear. And if you have a fire hydrant on your tree lawn that is buried under a deep snowfall, please clear it if at all possible. Our city has a notification system with which we can communicate important community information to residents by phone. The automated system calls Lyndhurst residents who have listed phone numbers and leaves messages about important community information. Any resident with an unlisted phone number may stop in at City Hall and fill out a form that provides us your name, address and contact phone number. We will enter that information into the notification system. Finally, we invite you to visit the Fire Department’s updated Web page. |
