Reminders From The Service Department

Rubbish Containers
Recently we have seen large 96 and 64 gallon rubbish carts (wheeled containers) on tree lawns throughout the city. These cans are designed for automated collection vehicles and are too heavy and bulky to dump by hand.

City ordinance 951.02 limits container size to 40 gallons and a maximum weight of 40 pounds. Large containers designed for automated collection will not be accepted. Please keep your recyclables at least three feet away from your rubbish and remove your containers the same day after your rubbish has been collected.

Leaves
During the Fall Season; please remember not to put sticks and branches in your leaves for curbside pickup. Sticks and branches can jam the tube on our leaf vacuum machines and slow us down. Leaves should be placed on the grass, at the curb for pickup. Please DO NOT place leaves in the street, as this is a hazard to traffic and tends to block catch basins preventing drainage after rain.

Snow
The winter season is rapidly approaching. Please remember when there are two inches or more of snowfall a parking ban is in effect. When a parking ban is in effect it is illegal to park on city streets.

In order to provide the best possible service regarding snow removal please remember it is illegal to shovel, plow or blow snow into the street or pile snow on the public sidewalk in front of your home. Keeping these areas open will allow our crews to operate more efficiently. If you hire a contractor to plow your driveway this winter, make sure they are registered with our Police Department, and aware of our ordinances pertaining to snow removal.

*Please have your rubbish to the curb by 7:00 AM.
